Students' Council Week 2018

Annually, the NSSC hosts its Students’ Council Week (SCW) the flagship activity and islandwide observance, with a focus on increasing awareness and highlighting the mandate and contributions of student councils. This year’s NSSC week, will be commemorated February 4-10, 2018 under the theme: “Today’s Youth: A purpose driven generation.”

Purpose-driven individuals might be able to define purpose at school by getting their school-mate involved in school and community based volunteer work and other philanthropic efforts. Keeping students involved in extra-curricular activities can help find purpose at school by demonstrating i.e.: leadership skills developed in school are useful and critical to their personal, academic and professional development.

It is against this background that the week’s focus will examine three (3) core areas in which youth can enable or strengthen their purpose-driven pursuits:

Identity- (Who they are?) Understanding and embracing one’s uniqueness and socio-cultural identity to contribute meaningfully as productive global citizens

Talent – (What are they good at?) Intentional thrust to identify and utilize one’s skills and talents

Service – (How can they use their skills / talents?) How an individual uses his/her talents for charitable and professional purposes

The Council hereby encourages all schools, to join us, in coordinating activities during our week of celebration, to celebrate every student’s identity, talent and acts of service for purpose, on purpose!
