Seventy young, aspiring entrepreneurs who have been engaged in entrepreneurship training sessions in Youth Innovation Centres (YICs) islandwide will participate in an Entrepreneurship Boot Camp from August 23-24. The enterprising youth are among a cohort of three hundred (300) young persons enrolled in the JACE-SEED Entrepreneurship Training delivered in YICs through a partnership between the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information, and Junior Achievement Jamaica.

Over the course of the two-day Entrepreneurship Boot Camp, participants will receive in-depth guidance on business development. Participants will explore topics including business planning, marketing and customer service and public speaking.

The Boot Camp is the culmination of an intensive three month training which started in June, 2018. The initiative targets young persons aged 15-24, who are taught to start and operate a business through experiential learning.

The YICs partnership with Junior Achievement Jamaica in delivering youth entrepreneurship training is part of a wider thrust to build the capacity of youth to start and operate viable enterprises. Through the training programme, participants learn by doing - receiving first hand experience in business operations.

A second cohort of participants will commence training in September of this year. Interested youth can register for the programme by visiting the nearest YIC or Youth Empowerment Officer.
