Deadline: Carib Innovation Competition 2017

The Regional Entrepreneurial Asset Commercial Hub (REACH), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Young Americas Business Trust (YABT) now opens the fourth edition and staging of the 2017 Caribbean Innovation Competition (CIC). The CIC is an international support programme and business start-up accelerator for entrepreneurs in the Caribbean and is part of the of the Talent and Innovation Competition of the Americas -TIC Americas, the most recognized Hemispheric Competition for Young Entrepreneurs in the Americas.

Focused on "Digital Enterprises", the CIC will award projects in the following Categories:

  • Creative Industries
  • Technology Commercialization

Individual entrants or team of up to ten members are to register their proposals here.

All registered participants are encouraged to access the BOOT Camp Resource Center and online courses at www.yabt.net/bootcamp which will provide Teams with tools, mentors and resources that will aid them in developing their:

  • Project Plan
  • Prototype validation
  • Graphic Presentation: Promotional video, slideshow or collage of at least three pictures that demonstrate innovation.
  • Online presence: website, Facebook Group or blog to keep the audience updated on the Team’s progress.

The participating Team list and the Concept Paper must be submitted by 5:00 PM, (Washington, DC Time) on January 15th, 2017.

Finalists will be selected from the qualifying teams that have registered and successfully competed in the semi-final stage and are eligible, to participate in the Finals.

A total of Eight Finalist Teams will be selected to move to the next round. Four teams per Award Category. A round-trip flight ticket, accommodation, meals, and local transportation will be provided for one representative of the Finalist Team to compete at the Finals and represent the Finalist team at the Expo, Conference and Awards Ceremony.

The CIC winning team will receive the following award package:

  • Cash seed funding capital for $5,000 USD
  • One trophy will be presented to the winning Team as the recipient of the CIC Award.
  • A Certificate will be presented to each registered Team member of the winning team as the recipient of the CIC Award.
  • Priority to participate at YABT’s events and be nominated to other international expos, conferences, symposium.
