
ABOUT THE JAYAP:
The JAYAP was established in 2000 as a strategy to promote youth advocacy and facilitate youth participation in decision-making processes at the National, Regional and International levels.
APPLICATION CRITERIA:
- Must be a Jamaican citizen between 18-27 years
- Have a demonstrable record of leadership
- Be of sound probity and character
- Have a demonstrable track record of participation in Community/Youth Development programmes
- Have excellent knowledge of Youth Development Best Practices and Policies
- Possess excellent oral and written communication skills
ROLE OF THE YOUTH AMBASSADORS:
- Represent the CARICOM, Commonwealth or United Nations General Assembly Portfolios for the period 2022-2024;
- Represent Jamaican youth by bringing relevant issues to the attention of policymakers and planners at the national, regional and international levels;
- Organise and conduct social intervention sessions with young people across the island to pass on knowledge;
- Conduct empowerment sessions in keeping with portfolio focal areas and the revised National Youth Policy; and
- Provide analysis of national and international youth development trends, challenges and opportunities
