The Prime Minister's National Youth Awards (PMYA) seeks to promote attitudinal change and social renewal, through reinforcing the positive values of self-discipline, hard work, dedication and humility. The Awards portrays each recipient as a positive role model for their peers as they transition from childhood to adulthood. The YAPD functions as the secretariat for the PM Youth Awards, coordinating processes relating to the nomination and selection of awardees.
 
In 2019 Forty-seven (47) youth were recipients of the Prime Minister’s National Youth awards, including youth organisations for their valuable contributions to various areas of nation building. The Awards promoted attitudinal change and social renewal through reinforcing the positive values of the Youth and Adolesents Policy Divsion (YAPD); self-discipline, hard work, dedication and humility.
 
The Awards portrays each recipient as a positive role model for their peers as they transition from childhood to adulthood. The awards were handed out in the following categories;
