Portmore YIC: A Background

The Portmore Youth Information Centre was opened on Thursday July 10, 2003 by the Honourable PJ Patterson the then Prime Minister of Jamaica. It was a proud day for all those involved and the then Minister of Education and Youth Maxine Henry Wilson and Junior Minister Dr. Donald Rodd beamed as the National Centre for Youth Development’s Operation Phoenix launched yet another milestone of the second YIC in Jamaica. The two 40 feet containers joined together though looking small from the outside its interior was truly a youth friendly haven, with bright colours and posters, music in the background with technology at the fingertips. Portmore YIC Celebrates 12th Anniversary

The Portmore Youth Information Centre was officially opened in 2003 at the Edgewater Round About in Portmore St. Catherine. A series of activities are planned throughout July and August in commemoration of the 12th anniversary of the opening of the YIC.  Read More
