Simone Townsend

Simone Townsend: Jamaica Youth Ambassador - CARICOM

Simone Townsend“I’m not anxious to be the loudest voice or the most popular, but I would like to think that at a crucial moment, I was an effective voice of the voiceless, an effective hope of the hopeless”

Simone Townsend is an engaging, outspoken and fearless young lady with a scintillating personality. She hails from the parish of St. Thomas and was Head Girl of Morant Bay High School (2015) whilst simultaneously holding the title of Miss Teen St. Thomas.

She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Laws degree at the faculty of law UWI Mona campus. She holds core values from which every outward action, thought or speech is coordinated. Those values center on integrity, responsibility, character and the preeminence of God.

Simone lives with the fervent belief in her potential and in her ability to make a meaningful difference in her community and by extension Jamaica, her island home. This is reflected in her lofty aspiration, to aid in the realization of the Jamaican Dream articulated in Vision 2030. She hopes to do so through her chosen career field and through her other repertoire of skills.

She has held the following leadership positions: Vice President of the Highbury Police Youth Club, Assistant Project Manager at Jamaica Association for Debating and Empowerment and Assistant to the Vice President UWI Mona Debating Society.

Simone is passionate about youth development. She believes that inherent in every young person is the latent ability to succeed and to succeed phenomenally. Her desire is to spend the rest of her life in complete abandon to that cause. To see the fulfillment of every young person of their God-given gifts and talents and to have them brought to fore in the dialogue about development and advancement of the nation and of the international community. Her hope is that anyone who comes in contact with her will leave feeling inspired and with the cloying sense that they were made for more.
