Sophia Bryan: Jamaica Youth Ambassador - Commonwealth

Sophia BryanSophia is a student at the Norman Manley Law School and will be called to the Jamaican Bar in 2018. She holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of the West Indies and is a proud graduate of the Meadowbrook High School.

Sophia lost her mother at the age of three (3) and her sister, Denise willingly took on the mantle of motherhood. This background is Sophia’s source of drive and determination to live a life of service.

Since the age of fifteen (15), Sophia has been deeply involved in community work and in August 2013 her focus shifted to include the women’s empowerment. She is the Founder & President of Women of Unlimited Worth (WOUW), an organization that aims to give holistic support to women and girls exposed to discrimination in the form of gender based violence. Sophia serves her community of Seaview Gardens as the Secretary of Community Development Committee (CDC). She is also a former Youth Commissioner of the Broadcasting Commission of Jamaica and has represented the youth voice on the Monitoring Content & Compliance Committee.

In addition to her community involvement, Sophia operates a business development consultancy called Business Support Guru International that empowers female entrepreneurs through mentorship, coaching, workshops and corporate support services.

Sophia Bryan also enjoys giving motivational talks to young people. She believes that her story, knowledge and experiences will help other youth desirous of growth whether it be personal or professional.
