Sujae Boswell to Attend One Young World Conference

Jamaica Youth Ambassador Sujae Boswell has been selected to represent Jamaica at the One Young World Conference in Ottawa, Canada, from September 28 to October 1, 2016.

sujae boswell one young world conference 2016 jamaicaThe summit will bring 1,300 youth delegates from 196 nations together to discuss global issues like education, human rights, peace and security, and environmental issues. The opening ceremony will take place at Canada's Parliament Hill.

The forum is guided by a long list of counsellors who range from musicians and Olympic athletes, to human rights heavyweights, activists and global CEOs.

The list of counsellors is headed by former United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan, Singer and Oscar winning actress Cher, Nobel Peace Prize Winner Muhammad Yunus, as well as several former presidents from Ireland and Latin America.

National Youth Service Board Director Boswell has also been selected by the One Young World organising team to sit as a reserve delegate speaker for the education and peace plenary sessions at the conference.

Boswell, who is also the Caribbean and Americas Representative on the Commonwealth Youth Council, has a number of official meetings scheduled. Top among the list is a meeting with officials from Canada's Ministry of Youth in an effort to foster greater regional support for youth development. He will also be making a courtesy call on Her Excellency, Janice Miller, Jamaica's High Commissioner to Ottawa.

The Commonwealth Youth Council is a coalition of national youth councils and other youth-led bodies and is a recognised voice of the more than 1.2 billion young people aged 29 or under in Commonwealth member countries.
