The Jamaica Union of Tertiary Students (JUTS) has been organised at the national level from 1972 by government in its democratisation plan within the education system and the subsequent legitimization of Students’ Council by way of the Education Regulations 1980. The JUTS is a democratic, independent, non-profit, non-sectarian and non-partisan student organisation comprising a confederation of student governing bodies -the students’ councils- in colleges and universities across Jamaica.
